In which my lazy makes me un-lazy
by Kaia in Uncategorized
So, when Tansy wrote her best of Doctor Who this season thing I was like “over thirty points, no way I can bother doing that oh wouldn’t it be awesome with a best of VIDEO?”
So I set about to watch all thirteen episode, write down my favourite scenes, cut it into a video and upload it for you. It took me ten days. See, my lazy knows no bounds and it gets me into trouble.
And of course, when I’d finally gotten it all sorted and won over iMovie and all that? I had to try three websites before finding one that didn’t immediately delete it for copyright violations… Not sure how long these will stay up, really, and I won’t embed just in case. If they’re gone when you go to watch, let me know, I can sendspace them to you or whatever.
Kaia’s best bits of season 5, part 1.
Kaia’s best bits of season 5, part 2.
You will notice the following:
- I don’t bother with the facing and winning over the monsters thing. It’s the least interesting part of the series.
- Episodes with River Song has the most clips.
- I love Amy, but she’s kind of an asshole in the first video.
- I love Rory even more.
- Something weird happened with the “I’m the bloody queen mate, basically, I rule”. I don’t even know why, but it refused to be widescreen and thus heads are partly chopped off and everyone is really long-faced. Sorry about that.
PS. This is my sixth blog post today. Three here, two at FA blog, one at Swedish blog. I also did two hours of sewing, listened to six podcasts and edited three chapters. I’m TIRED.

Oh woe is me and other Man Cold-like grumbles
by Kaia in Uncategorized
Am on fifth day (or fourth?) of pathetic illness that is flooring me. Shamelessly. I dubbed it the Man Cold, because I feel just as whiny and oh-woe-is-me as my dad is when he’s sick. The thing that makes me whine the most is a) the inability to focus enough to write, b) the inability to stay upright long enough to cook, and c) the madness of the kitten, as she bored out of her mind climbs on everything in an attempt to get me to play with her.
She’s seriously displeased, in case you were wondering, although she seems to enjoy the daytime napping nearly as much as me…
Anyway.
When I say that I’m too weak to cook I mean that things like this happens:
Still, broken cookies are better than no cookies, yes? And besides, had I not let you peek behind the scenes like that it would’ve looked this good:
Tea, ricecakes with spreadable cheese, banana and two of the aforementioned cookies. And after I took that picture and collapsed on the couch from the sheer ENERGY needed for all of this I added a glass of orange juice. Because I hear it’s good for you.
Also, since yesterday I have watched seven episodes of Scrubs and bought the new Indelicates album. About the former I can say that I never knew I hadn’t seen it from the beginning (and OMG, JORDAN, I love her so), and about the latter? You can buy it for any sum you want to here. Yes, even zero pounds, although if you do, how cheap are you?
PS. Today Alisa tweeted the word SCHMEKL. It’s so awesome I want to start using it in daily speech, but um, I’m not Jewish. And I have no idea how to pronounce it. But seriously? So awesome. I love myself a good “sch”-sound. I suppose I could say “sjutton skjutna kyrkor tjohoade klyschigt och rysch-pyschigt” instead. No, that sentence makes no sense even in Swedish. And no, those are not swear words. But yes, they are all real words. And yes, they are all variations of ways we spell the “sch”-sound. Because why makes things EASY?

Today…
by Kaia in 2010
I went to the library. I hate reading translated works, but the bottom one seemed too
interesting to skip. It’s written by the mother of a school massacre gun man. Also?
Only nine books! I must be losing my touch.
I said bye-bye to Christmas. Sad.
I made chili. The secret to really good chili? Two pieces of really dark baking chocolate. In fact,
I keep it around just for that, even though I don’t like dark chocolate for anything else. I also
made corn bread, but it didn’t photograph well. It was lovely, though, and the gluten free flour
mix I’d purchased because I couldn’t find chickpea flour worked AWESOMELY.
I finished knitting these mittens (but not weaving in the ends, as you can see). The yarn is
Malabrigo Silk Blend, purchased in Edinburgh. Pattern for these semi-convertible mittens
will be up at my craft blog shortly.
I received my awesome personalised planner in the post. It is green. With birds. I love it.
Each spread has a space for a list (we all know how much I love lists), a to-do-list (with
boxes to check when it’s done!) and a little blank square for ideas and such. In the front
I requested a Alice in the Wonderland quote (“I knew who I was when I got up this morning,
but I must’ve changed several times since”), and in the back there are SUDOKO pages. It’s
quite possibly the nerdiest thing I own.
